A senior system engineer assesses current operations and networks within a company to identify potential issues in the system. Then, they proceed to create a more efficient system architecture. They monitor computer networks, research software and hardware, and provide directions to the IT team.
The senior system engineer is also responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting complex systems. This is a managerial role, so most companies will require you to have several years of experience and at least a master’s degree in system engineering.
